There are certain drawbacks to living in one of the largest cities in the country with nothing but dessert all around. It can be quite a challenge to find spots to take pictures that have the greens and other colors that most of us portrait and wedding photographers love so much... I can't tell you how much easier an ocean or a beach would make my life as far as pictures go :) Still, Arizona has its advantages... There is a TON of beautiful dessert scape to shoot as a background for portraits if you are willing to drive out past the houses and into the countryside, which is what Emily and I had to work with last night.

We were scouting spots for a mock engagement shoot we are doing this weekend and so we took Hahna (Em's younger sister) with us to be our beautiful model (major props to Hahnabear!!! :) Not to mention that I am EXTREMELY excited at this point because this is the first time that I get to test out my new Canon 5d and see if its worth its salt. So far I am far from disappointed! The colors and the clarity that this thing has, and especially at low levels of light which is how I prefer to work (I love to use natural light as much as possible) are such an improvement to my older Nikon D70. I'm still getting used to it but I am glad to say that I am VERY happy with how my first shoot turned out! So tell me what you think and enjoy!!

Oh and sidenote; Curley Q Spanky was Hahna's nickname when she was a kid :)
