Hi all! I hope you had a relaxing and joy-filled Labor Day weekend. Side not: I find it ironic that they call it Labor Day when nobody works. It should be called No Labor day or Nobody Works Day. I digress...
A few weeks ago I shot Joe and Jacqueline's backyard wedding and I had a great time. I was flying solo on this one and I really enjoyed getting to know Joe and Jacqueline's friends and family. This wedding was a small southwestern themed wedding with about 30 people, out back next to a swimming pool at a house in Mesa they rented just for their wedding. The bride and groom stayed there for the whole weekend with their wedding party and some of their family as well. The thing I love about small backyard weddings is that I feel more like a guest than a photographer. If you know me, I'm a pretty relational person and I just love meeting and hanging out with new people. I was also right at home because most of the people were out of town guests from southern states; I had the privilege of living in Texas for a few years so I have a lot of nostalgia for all things southern (i.e. sweet tea, BBQ, thick southern accents, ladies who expect men to open doors for them, and good-old boys who's idea of fun is hanging around a bonfire and shooting things ;). Take all that and throw in a bit of southwestern decoration and a beautiful bride, and you have Joe and Jacqueline's wedding :) It was a very warm-hearted event and I had a great time capturing it for them.
the last shot of the dog makes this whole series of pictures!!!! LOVE IT!
