Chris and Susan live in London, however both grew up in different places... (Sounds like Phoenix :) Susan was born here in the States and Chris was born in New Zealand. This made for a great wedding because they had about 100 out-of-town guests, and all were lively and ready for a wedding party! They had some of the craziest guests I have yet seen at a wedding! :) Emily was at home with the babies so Sarah and I tag-teamed this one; there was definitely not a lack of photo opportunities!
Although we didn't get much of a chance to get to know Chris and Susan, I do want to say that they are such a fun and lively couple! Chris is an oddly quiet person when you first meet him which is interesting because put him in front of people and you have one of the most outgoing grooms I've seen! Susan is also pretty quiet in manner, but she had a great time with her bridesmaids and Sarah and I had a blast capturing the moments of the day with her.
We wish you guys the best in everything! :)
Love this post you guys! The tribal dance and the gift of the fern was really special! :)
ReplyDeleteHi Andrew, thanks for the great comments about the wedding and I am glad you enjoyed being part of it. We wanted to achieve a party atmosphere and looking through the photo's there are some fantatsic shots to prove it! Some fantastic moments, The First Dance, Journey (I hate that song but I can put on a good act), Thriller, The Haka and many more. The Haka is named Ka Mate which literally means 'The Death' but the story is about the chance of death and the chance of life and a triumph of life over death in the face of adversity. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ka_Mate You are right it means a lot to me because it is ancestral and tribal and something that you have to feel to truly experience the power. When taking part in the haka, you need to be in the right frame of mind as it is not a performance, it has a Wairua (spirit) of it's own that you are privileged to be a part of. When the chant begins you are part of something bigger than what is in the room and you can feel the ancesters watching you and joining you. If it made the hairs on the back of your neck standup then you felt the power too.
ReplyDeleteGreat photos and I look forward to seeing the rest soon!
Chris
