A Wedding Post: Alex & Micaela

We've known Alex and Micaela now for about 6 months... A friend of ours introduced us and the rest is history... We did their engagement pictures a while back and have been anticipating their wedding day for a long time now. Well it came and went a couple weeks ago; if I had to choose one word for the day, it would be 'BEAUTIFUL'. Emily and I could not stop talking about how gorgeous Micaela looked (Alex you looked pretty studly yourself but you know you married UP :), the backdrop of the ceremony was a beautiful stain glass window, their reception site was out of a magazine, the sunset pictures could've been taken in Hawaii for all you know, it was just... perfect. There's another word for it... So I guess 2 words would have to do; 'BEAUTIFUL' and 'PERFECT'. :P

Micaela was (at first) a little stressed out, and rightfully so... This WAS, after all, her wedding day and she wanted everything to go just right (which never happens but it's not an uncommon expectation). She had put together a very detailed list of how everything was going to go (from getting ready to tear down). As you can tell, Micaela is a very detail-oriented girl... I can relate, by the way... for Em and I's wedding, I did the EXACT same thing. Father Floors (who gave the ceremony) made a joke at her expense during the ceremony about how much she loves lists :D When things started kicking off, though, I was impressed how calm she was and just enjoyed the day... She just loved her groom, laughed with her friends, danced like crazy, and gazed at Alex like their weren't 200 people watching her. I really enjoy seeing 2 people like Alex and Micaela who have the ability to be completely caught up in the moment as though they are miles away from another living soul...

Did I say yet that I love what I do for a living? :)

When you do weddings so often, it is a lot easier to be relaxed and calm under pressure. Alex , on the other hand, was getting married for the first time and he didn't seem fazed at all. It was as if this was just another day where he was going to get to hang out with his lady friend... oh, and 200 of his closest friends and family were going to come along for the ride :) In between shots and changing out mom and dad for the bridal party and such, Alex and I just talked and joked around. It's always cool when you can be yourself with the people you are taking pictures of.

For anyone interested, I am a HUGE fan of couples that see each other before the ceremony! I know that it is the norm to wait until later, but it sure does make for a good photo-op before hand :) Micaela was so nervous for Alex to see her, she was so adorable! And when Alex turned around with the look of amazement on his face and tears in his eyes, it was one of the highlights of the day for Emily and I FOR SURE.

We stole the bride and groom away for some sunset pictures that turned out breath-taking... not so much because of the photography, more because Alex and Micaela were so romantic and forgot we were there taking pictures of them.

This is Andrew Wagner, the raddest DJ of the year so far for Em and I... If you are wanting a solid DJ that is entertaining and not obnoxious, check out his site HERE.

So the day was a total success... Everything went according to plan (mostly :)) and Alex and Micaela enjoyed every minute of it... Hope you enjoyed the pictures, tell us what you think...

We had so much fun with you on our wedding day, you really helped to make it fun and easy. Thank you for everything you have done for us, we are both truly grateful.
